Aha Lama, you fell into my trap ;-). The verb agrees with "corruption"
which is singular.
OK, it wasn't a trap, but when I read it through (missing the
misspelling of "programmes"), I had to think carefully before leaving
the construction as it was.
In fact, I watched a bit of "Friends" yesterday (I like Phoebe) and it
is funny. I suppose I ought to blame our education system (not
teachers) for failing to teach our language properly over the last
20-30 years.
