If buying a Kodak, I would recommend buying only the ones that take ELH
bulbs, and have auto-focus, such as the 760H, 860H, or the newer 4600, or
better still one of the Medalist or Ektagraphic ones. I have the 760H,
bought used off epay, and haven't had a moments trouble so far.
My friend who shoots with a Leic* R4, has a Leitz projector as well, of
course. Both have needed repair recently, so they are not trouble-free. I
know because I had the projector borrowed when it broke... doesn't that
always happen when you borrow something? But his projector does have
excellent optics, as expected, and takes the standard carousel trays/stack
loader. It is definitely a good projector. As far as noise is concerned, I
can't seem to remember it being significantly quieter.
