Although this sounds ugly, it has all the earmarks of a
poor/intermittant connection. Before assuming it is inside and out of
reach, try the standard fixes:
Make sure the bottom plate screws are corrosion free and tight. Battery
continuity goes from the cap through the base plate and into the body.
Make sure the battery cap is making good contact with the bottom plate.
Some 'T's (many, most?) came with black painted battery covers and the
paint got into the threads.
Make sure the internal battery connection is properly in place and
corrosion free.
Rotate the Mode, film speed and self timer switches back and forth with
careful vigor a few times.
Make sure you have fresh silver oxide batteries. Several Listees have
reported problems with 'fresh' batteries that weren't, and a second set
did the trick.
Good Luck,
Moose
