Maybe it's the 'Manual' switch setting that fools them into thinking
that it should work without batteries? I've bought one or more 'parts'
OM-10, G and PC that only needed batteries. I think the other thing that
happens is that they have non silver oxide batteries that 'check' ok but
won't run the shutter consistently, so the camera is assumed to be
broken. I've been less lucky that you with OM-2(n) bodies, both a plain
2 and a 2n bought for parts were indeed not functional with new batteries.
