I agree with Jan, I use PS's batch mode to do a lot of conversions of entire
directories, typically resizings for Ebay sales. I have the actions set to
always point to the same two directories, one an input, one an output
directory. So I fill the input directory with copies of the original files,
and they appear in the output directory resized. I append a suffix to the
file-name like -400 or -1000 to tell me the size
