Piers and friends et al...
It was the soap. I don't need to guess, the factory confirmed it for me.
Something in the soap (buti-something or other... a close cousin of
alcohol I don't recall how to pronounce) has changed the chemical makeup
of the screen..
They said it's not fixable because the chemical makeup of the plastic
has changed, if it were only a surface scratch, that would be a
different story.
I have manage to "buff" out the screen, to about 500f it's original
brightness, (trust me, I'm curious too).
Guess what? The little microprisms don't prism anymore. They are just
spotted patterns now.. Oh well..
As for the 1-7 screen, Garth on the list is nice enough to offer to send
me one; the OM list is one of the best camera lists.. Great people...
My friend (Minolta Owner) says that the minolta list is quite difficult
to read; filled with "Why can't Minolta make xxxx so it competes with C*
or N*"? There is very little in actual way of photography discussion.
Contrast that with nice hummingbird pics I just saw..
I'm leaving for the airport now!! I'll post pics when I get back!!
