Subject: [OM] Frustrations of the Web for image display
I've put up a web photo gallery of shots in my front yard over the last
few weeks at <http://www.geocities.com/dreammoose/garden/index.htm>.
I find the whole process somewhat frustrating. Getting everything
together is awfully time consuming and it took quite a while to get the
template right.
The worst thing, however, is the whole size/quality business. I use a
19" screen at 1280x1024 and I find the images on many of the photo
sites, including several on this list, to be just too small to really
respond to. The TOPEs are not bad for size, but still a bit small. So I
opted for about TOPE size images - but I know that may be a problem for
those with small screens at low resolutions and/or those with dial-up
connections.
So I'm wrestling with this stuff and every time I don't have an app up
on the screen, there is this wallpaper image that just about knocks me
off my seat filling the screen. The image is the one called 'Iris
Emerging' on my site. So I'm frustrated both that I can't show how good
some of my images look at a larger size and frustrated at what I'm
missing in the small versions that are all I can see of the images you
folks have taken and shared.
Nothing to be done about it at the moment, but thanks for letting me
vent.
