That insert with the reverse bevel *is* a T-mount fitting (or rather, would
fit into the 49.5 mm recess left by the threaded insert on the T-mount in my
hand)
Unless I am much mistaken.

This particular adapter requires an insert that has a reverse 15º bevel on
the camera side that fits in a 49.5mm hole in the body of the adapter which
is then secured with three small screws @ 120º.
