In my experience, "minty" means "almost mint". However, what usually shows up
is EX+ or EX++.
Whether you rate using "mint"/"EX" or numbers (e.g. 8.5/10) there's some
subjectiveness to the claim.
On a few occasions I told an *bay seller that their lens was not in the
condition they claimed. I requested a full refund, or, if we could agree on a
compensatory amount for them to refund me, I would just keep the lens, and most
likely give them a very positive feedback.
For sellers I have not been able to reach agreement with, I would give them
neutral or negative feedback. Of course, you have to be prepared to expect
non-positive retaliatory feedback from the seller. However, it's not all bad if
other sellers become aware that you have higher-than-average standards.
