There might have been some problem with "NOFORN" classification in the
newer models of F18. I heard some years ago that the D(?) and E models
had too much in them for foreign sales to take place. It is one of the
reasons that I would advise against the UK's purchase of US fighters
(if, of course, my opinion were ever to be sought ;-)): the "export"
versions are likely to be less capable electronically.
