A while ago I wrote to the list regarding the best way to go digital. Have
finally made up my mind......Have been given permission by the "Chief
Financial Officer" to buy an Epson 1160 A3 printer. I intend to use it with
archival B+W inks. The clincher was the fact that they are now being
discontinued..with no replacement at present...so it's now or never. Will
have to use initially with a Canon 5000 flatbed scanner while I save for a
dedicated film scanner.....at least it's a start. Regards

John,
Is the 1160 only now being discontinued in the UK? Had I known, I might
have purchased a backup (though mine's doing fine, knock wood). It's been
years since that model has been available in the USA.
The 1160 works beautifully with a continuous inking device. You could
actually get one for BW or quads and another for color.
