Kind of odd, as I can't tell what I'm pointing at before taking the
pic. Makes DC sense, as one can take more than one shot, even several,
to zero in the framing on the LCD display afert each shot.

Yeah, even that awful little Sony I had used a focus light. While it is
an interesting capability it seems to be overly stressed in reviews.
This one without such a lamp seems to focus in low light about as well
as the focus screen on an SLR, which seems to take care of most of my
needs which are more related to the esthetics of the image that getting
the impossible shot. The reason I mentioned it was that while I was
shopping I almost rejected the camera because the lack of a focus lamp
and it is not really needed unless you do a lot of night flash without
ambient lighting or need the "night vision scope" capability similar to
that in the Sony 717.
