here's a scan of my backpacking "tripod". Basically the same idea as the
visegrip. The little wood screw stores in the handle and allows one to
fasten to anything wooden too big for the clamp. Clamp also works on the
car window with a pad. Length less than 5", weighs 4oz. Got it at REI
years ago. This works great in the PacNW with lots of trees but less
well in the desert or above tree line.
