I think it's more important that the column can be inverted, so you can put the
camera underneath the tripod.
But what do I know, I use a Benbo... we don't need no steenkeen fixed
positions... :-)

Care to make a reasonable offer on a used Gitzo 1228? One of the collars came
unglued, and I carefully epoxied it back into place. It has some scrapes. I'd
call it a "VG" -- definitely not a "beater" or "user", but noticeably used. But
everything is functional.
