At the camera show this weekend I was looking for some Leica M lens base
caps, and found a couple sellers... but they wanted $10 - $12 each. In the
same box they had Canon base caps for $2... but wouldn't budge on the Leica
ones. I found a Minolta/Leica CL base cap (exactly the same mount) new in
the packing for $5. Even more appropriately, the lens its going on is the
90/4.0 Elmarit C for the Leica CL, so its 'home' in a sense. In defense of
the Leica caps, the ones I have are nicely finished heavyweight metal, with
great chrome plating and nice velvet felt inside the rim... not sure that's
worth $39, but its not just a plastic mold-shot with the sprue trimmed
off...
