The reproduction ratio is just that, a ratio of the size of the original
to the size of the image on the sensor (chemical or electronic). 1:1
means that a 10mm item is reproduced as a 10mm image by the lens,
regardless of the size of the sensor. You are mixing up repro ratio
language and field of view.

distance were the same it would be producing the same size image as a
50 macro. Since you have a smaller sensor it will only capture a
portion of that image. You will have to back up to get the smaller 1:1
image you are looking for.
