OK, I'll add my story.

My mom had a 1967 Ford Fairlane station wagon.  She filled up the car and
was driving along and turned a corner, just as she heard a huge thump and
screech.

She stopped and got out.

The gas tank had fallen out and was dragging along the ground and pouring
out her new tank of gas.

Luckily she had just turned from a concrete road onto a tar one.
Steel+concrete=sparks.

Turns out Ford had neglected to install the straps that held the tank onto
the car. It had been dangling by the filler pipe since they bought it.
