The problem with the spontaneous-combusting Citroens is thought to be a badly-sealed electronics package in the engine compartment. In damp weather the electronics could short out, burst into flames, and ignite everything else. All C3's from a particular period have been recalled to check the sealing of the box, and replace it if necessary. Roger Key The problem (or one problem anyway) was that they did not have an actual distributor. The coil fires both plugs every time the points would break. If the timing were off enough or the intake valves leaky enough, a hog could catch fire through the intake manifold and carburetor.
