Why wouldn't it focus to infinity??? If I don't extend the teleconverter
for its "macro" use, I can focus to infinity all right. Then I have a
360/5.6. Or am I missing something here?
What I meant is that this combo appears to be stable enough and strong
enough when mounted on a tripod via the camera body screw hole (the 180 has
no tripod ring) to not require the specialized Bogen telephoto lens support
(3420).

Huh? What? You need the equivalent of a 360mm T/5.6 pseudo-macro that
won't focus to infinity? What does that do for you? Caterpillars from 20
feet?
