My daughter worked (as a driver) for Amtrak (UK). The drivers are
under enormous pressure to complete a delivery schedule and she often
worked a 12 hour day (sometimes more) and was under pressure to work
overtime. No doubt the same applies to UPS and all the others. With a
teenage daughter of her own, it was too much and she resigned.
Although speeding and bad driving (do you have the "white-van-man"
syndrome in the US?) is inexcusable, perhaps it is the corporate
management attitude and cut throat competition that's to blame more
than the drivers themselves.
