There are mixed opinions here; the two 90/2.5 modes are
Model 52B, made from 1979-1988

uses 49mm filters
Model 52BB made from 1988-1996
http://www.tamron.co.jp/data/a2-lens/52bb.htm
uses 55mm filters; replaced by 90/2.8 1:1
It could be that the major difference is cosmetics, to fit with Tamron's
other current lenses......
Performance for both is reputed to be better than the later 90/2.8.

I've just spotted a mint Tamron90 f2.5 sp + 1:1 tube just in my budget. How
do I tell which model it is and, of course, which is the best model to go
for.
