If it affects aperture operation (most commonly slow or only partial
reopening), yes, exposures will be incorrect if taken before aperture
has fully reopened. If there is no effect on aperture operation, it may
be some time, if ever, before it has any effect on picture taking. If
it's a lens that 'must' always be available, it needs service because
it's impossible to predict when it will affect operation. Unless a film
of oil starts to show up on a lens element, nothing is being damaged by
putting off a cleaning until performance is affected.
