Ok, documents at a reasonable resolution seem fast enough (compared to my
old HP5100C)

I have had problems with the amount of dust appearing on the scans of prints,
much more so than the HP at the same resolution. It may have something to do
with the DOF of the optical system. The scanner has been in for service twice
and the dust just moved to different positions, it is clearly visible on the
underside
of the glass. The only solution seems to be to run a dust removal program over
the image to remove the tiny white spots.
Both medium format and 35mm scans seem good and don't appear to be
affected by the dust problem, probably due to the different illumination.
