Actually it depends on what you want. Dead insects look a lot
different, particularly if they have a pin through their thorax. I
have hundreds of slides of insects and they all come from live in the
field. Specimen shots in a lab are not generally particularly
beautiful whereas that is the important component of attempting to
take a shot of a living creature. Life is hard to catch on film. Its
the ultimate challenge.
