It shouldn't be that much trouble -- nothing should fall out until you unscrew
it.  It may take 3.5 hands to get done, but if you can work on camcorders, you
shouldn't have any problems.

The latch's notch on the mounts do sometimes get worn, but it's rare that they
have to be replaced for that.  I suspect that just replacing the latch on the
lens will correct the problem.  If you want, you can try filing the notch a
little if it's worn, just so that it's square again.  There will be a little
"slop", but it shouldn't hurt performance.
