I love those old R/R engines ... hard to imagine those examples are over 50
years old. With parts inventories being about 0, I expect that they pray
every time they fire one up.
I remember that a car magazine in the '70's had an article about someone in
England who had built a automotive tube chassis for a Merlin and then laid a
fiberglas body for it. Calculated top speed was something just short of
Warp Factor 5, taking less time to reach that than the nuclear decay rate
for Obscurium atoms ;-).
