I doubt that Epson would kill off such a successful product, probably just
getting
ready to introduce a new model.
I bought one a few weeks back and have been quite happy with the results (which
initially were quite different in appearance than those from my Microtek
Scanmaker 35T+). It is quite slow but nothing else comes close in price for
scanning 120. In a side by side comparison with the 35T+ scanning 35mm the
results from the 2450 do not look as sharp even though the resoltuion is higher
(2400 cf 1950), the default contrast is lower than the 35T+ (probably due to
the
way the neg/transparency is lit), also the default colour balance is different,
tending towards magenta for the 2450 relative to the 35T+. None of these
differences are really serious once you compensate for contrast & colour
balance.
