Yes, I think it is too late.
The OM-1 was a brilliant design, brilliantly executed.
The OM-2 was pure science fiction when it was introduced.
Aperture-priority AE, TTL flash, metering to EV -5, wow man!
The remainder of the OM series were useful refinements of the basic
OM-1/2 concept, IMHO.
I think I'm disappointed because I was expecting a product, not a
concept. Oly will probably have to sign up everybody but Canon and
Nikon to have much of shot at success.
Meanwhile, Leica sends me a daily e-mail of a new product introduction.
I have the printout of a PDF file for the new R9 on my desk right now.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to discover that I was switched at
birth in the hospital, and there's a large trust fund waiting for me...
