I have owned more than five 50/3.5 (now only one), none have play on
focusing, not side to side or front and back. It is very abnormal. IMO the
50/3.5 has the best optical characteristic (MC version). Very high
resolution, sharp but not harsh, color and contrast is great but not too
contrasty. The only problem is a bit slow but it still focus very easily
even with the 1-series focusing screen.
