It was Thomas Watson, at the time the Chairman of IBM:
"Nearly 60 years ago, IBM Chairman Thomas Watson said, "I think there is a
world market for maybe five computers."

That's just like the two computer statements that I can paraphrase:
1. From the late 1950's, some guy from GE or the US Government said that he
could see the global market for computers at 5 or 6, tops
2. From Kenneth Olson, founder/president of DEC: "There is no reason for
any individual to have a computer in their home." (Ken Olson, President,
Digital Equipment, 1977)
Ahhh, how history repeats itself.....
