I'd suggest lighter fluid in liew of alchohol to remove the goo... not sure
that lens cap plastic is real congenial with alchohol...
Otherwise, congrats on the lens. Lets all hope that procurement number two
is as successful!

Subject: Re: [OM] Common Courtesy - Not a Rant!
One of the two lenses, the 35/2.8 shift, has arrived from the first of the
uncommunicative sellers about whom I recently ranted. It was listed as
"mint," and, by golly, it really is! The glass is perfect and there's
absolutely no sign of use, not even on the aperture ring or on the case,
and the shift is smooth as silk. In other words, everything was perfect,
except that whoever previously had custody of it had tethered the lens cap
to the lens with one of those string-and-garter things. I immediately
removed that silly contraption, which left sticky goo on the lens cap. But
alcohol exists for many good and beneficial reasons, one of which is to
remove sticky goo from where it oughtn't to be.
I thought I had my TOPE 11 shot in the can, and I almost send it in off to
Olafo yesterday. Now I'm not so sure. I may have to start over now that
I'm better equipped for architectural photography -- whatever that really
is.
In my rant, I threatened neutral or no feedback for these unsociable
sellers, but seeing the lens, and considering that it's been only six
business days since the auction ended, plus the fact the seller has already
left me positive feedback, I guess I'll leave positive feedback too. I
just won't say anything about "good communication."
Am I a wuss or what?
Now where's my 35-80/2.8?
Walt
