While a higher saturation film may do the trick for those flower photos, it
might just as well make things worse. The lower saturation films (provia,
astia) record a greater number of hues than the higher ones. Contrast may
well play into this as well (the two go hand-in-hand), but we do not have
the luxury of much contrast control in color, as we do in black and white.
