A diffuser the same size as the tube (e.g. tissue, handkerchief) won't
diffuse the light very much.
You'll lose less light if you handhold with a biggish reflector attached.
http://www.lumiquest.com/ has both reflectors and diffusers.
Or point it at a white wall.
