WATER.
I have not done the Grand Canyon yet. When I hike the local
hills, I figure on a MINIMUM of a gallon per day. Sources of
water are few and far between, and so I never bothered with
the filter.

If you walk down from the North side of the canyon, there is a water
fountain maybe 3/4th's of the way down. The park recommends you filter the
water.
I suggest you carry very light, 1 camera body and just a couple of lenses.
The upward walk is very strenuous. The added weight will make a difference.
