As ever, if you want a light but relatively capable tripod, the Slik
Compact is light enough and compact enough to stick into the bottom of a
daypack without noticing it, but is still stable enough to be very useful;
it's not tall enough to use standing up, and you'll want to be careful if
you're using big heavy lenses, but it's still a _huge_ amount better than
nothing.
