FWIW, I like the LS-4000. I use NikonScan 3.1.2 and sometimes VS. All my
online pictures (except the few that are taken with the C-3000) are scanned
with it. I don't find dust to be a problem at all.

I'm slightly considering upgrading from my Nikon LS-30 (2700 dpi) to a 4000
dpi machine. The Nikon LS-4000 is expensive (1500 USD) and uses a lighting
system that emphasizes dust - and I'm pissed at Nikon for their software
support of the LS-30 (and their dedicated software's human interface is
DREADFUL - thank heaven for Ed Hammrick and Vuescan). Polaroid/Artix is a
lot cheaper. Any other thought/options/recommendations? I prefer those
from personal experience. I scan all three media - color negs, b&w negs,
slides (including KR).
