And of course, Texarkana, which is always a mystery to me - Texas or Arkana

It depends.
Arkansas is normally pronounced 'Ar kan saw, with one exception.
The Arkansas river flows through the state of Kansas, and while it is
within the Kansas borders, it's referred to as the Ar 'kan sas River.
At least, that's what I learned in grade school in Overland Park, Kansas.
