Barry:
I suspect more good lenses have been ruined by amateur cleaning methods
than any other single source. My dad had to clean his front element
before he ever took a picture. Of course, the lens always had a cap on
between shots. Fortunately, when the store sold him his OM-1, they
fitted the lens with a UV filter, so he was actually polishing on it all
these years.
