It all breaks down to how much you want a certain
lens. Is a 50/1.2 a great lens, you bet! Is it worth a
$250 premium over a 50/1.8 or 50/1.4 which are also
good sharp lenses depends on your opinion alone. It's
not a black and white choice great lens vs crappy or
mediocre one since all the 50mm's are pretty good
lenses barring the earliest 50/1.4's (and some of
those are pretty good too).
I bought a 50/2 macro and sold a 50/3.5 to get it. Is
the 50/2 a great lens absolutley! Is it better and
easier to use than the 3.5; definitely, IMO. Is it
worth the 200-250 dollar premium? I think so but
that's just me.
