No.  Nobody can give you any rule to get the correct exposure of any subject.  
There is no such thing as "correct" exposure !  The exposure you use is up to 
how you (as photographer) want to map the range of tones (colours) in the 
subject to the range of tones (colours) in the presentation medium,  it is not 
a 
purely technical decision but involves some art.
