Only if you can handle the MF negatives. I would personnal think
about an Xpan if I wanted the long 35mm format because I don't have
any way to scan or work with 6x7 negatives. Yea, yea, I could get
the scanned at a service bureau, but that gets expensive.
Your point is well taken though. The XPan is, in fact, a medium
format camera that uses 35mm film to capture the middle stripe of a
MF-sized image circle. It is a specialilzed tool and excels at what
it does.
It takes some neat verticals though.
