If you can afford it, get the Olympus Zuiko 300/4.5. The Zuiko 300/2.8 is
heavenly, but well out of most people's price range. But if your budget
permits, I'd STRONGLY recommend you buy zuiko glass. the optics are second
to none & as you get further bitten by the OM bug throughout your photo
experience, there will be lots of times you'll wish you had bought Olympus
glass. The zuiko 200/4 is also no lens to be laughed at, and is even more
affordable still.
i think most people here will back me up when I say you will not be
disappointed by any zuiko optics (except maybe the 2 zoom lenses made by
Cosina which I won't get into).
Buying off brand is almost ALWAYS a gamble... except perhaps for certain
tokina's and Vivtar Series 1's etc...
snip snip...
PS: can I ask what the group thinks about the Olympus O M fit Vivitar 300mm
Auto Telephoto lens? I have been speaking to Steve, and he said that I may
need to add a telephoto lens for large sunset photos and I think I have
found a good one.
