If you get the 35-80/2.8, I don't think you will regret it. I haven't run into
anybody on list who has said he regretted it that I can recall. There have
been those who have said it's not worth the money, but I don't think they were
speaking from the experience of having owned one first.
I don't use the 35-70/3.5-4.5 much anymore and I have never owned the 3.6
version. I do think the 35-105/3.5-4.5 is very very good and a terrific value
for the money, if a bit on the slow side. I prefer 2 touch zooms but I love
the DOF scale on the 35-105.
The 35-80/2.8 is not a very small zoom however. If that's one of the things
you're looking for, it will indeed disappoint you.
