Dye sub prints have about the same longevity as normal photopaper; inkjets
vary wildly depending on the inks used and how much air exposure the print
gets -- air breaks down the inks rather than light. Unless you keep inkjet
prints tight under glass you'll get fade in a year or two. The inks are
fairly smudge proof once completely dry.
I currently use an Epson inkjet but honestly think the dye subs are a lot
better.
