Old style meter has the meter circuit, eyepiece frame, cds and meter
movement all mounted to the same "|__|" shaped plastic frame. Newer style
has the meter, and eyepiece w/ cds in separate plastic housings.

Any good (visual) indications on how to detect if it's a newer style

Okie - electronics is much less scaring to me than mechanical stuff. I
will definitely try our your advices tomorrow or tuesday evening. I hope
that they solve my metering problems ;)
