You have a silver-nose; its serial number falls into the proper range and
your description of it matches their appearance.
I mentioned the Mamiya Sekor C "silver-nose" lenses for the Mamiya M645;
instead of a chrome filter ring, the leading edge of the focus ring on them
is beveled and chromed.
I have a 300/4.5 "black-nose" F.Zuiko which should be identical in
formulation, the only difference between them being the cosmetic
silver-nose. It is an outstanding lens.

Thanks John, your photos also answered another question I had in mind, "Can
I put a 2x converter on it & photograph the moon?" :) Also, you have some
great pictures on your site, which I have bookmarked so I can take a good
look later.
