I was down at the local pro lab today and saw a new sign in the window that
said they have a 8000dpi drum scanner.
I finally sat down this evening and did some math using film specifications
in line pairs per millimeter and looking at their MTF curves. From what I
was able to determine, 8000 dpi is centered at about the limit of film
information content in pixels. Some films have a little more and other
films have a little less. Films such as Tech Pan have much, much more content.
Then there's the analog color information color films contain . . .
