I have a MD 2 for each of my bodies and they stay on all the time. I like
the feel of this package--makes for an excellent grip in the street and
provides for more stability/rigidity on the tripod. I don't actuate the
motor all the time, or even often, though there are times (again, in the
street, usually) where I'll fire off the entire roll if there's action (for
example someone's face, kids at play) in front of the lens.
I first owned a Winder. It was okay. The Winder 2 is big improvement. I've
a couple of those around here and bought one for my daughter as well. Never
owned the original MD so I can't say how much difference the torque is
since they installed the motors in opposition--likely significant, though,
as there is z-e-r-o torque on the MD 2.
All in all I doubt I'll ever go out without a drive on one of my bodies
ever again. I see no purpose in that, I see loads of purpose of having one
attached.
