Speaking of the "Pixel of the month club," this month's issue of
Shutterbug made it through the mail today, and there's a glowing
review of the E-20. Almost makes a fellow want one. I think I'll
wait a while, though. I don't suffer poverty easily.
Walt, what month's issue was that? I looked at Shutterbug's web
site, and it touts the Feb 2002 issue, and I can see no mention of
an E-20. What it does have is a review of the Nikon FM3A.
I did find this little snippet to be interesting....
Just as some of us predicted... I think technmology passed it by
before it could be built. After all, wasn't it described as a 1.3
megapixel unit??....
The question on everyone's mind is: "When will this megapixel
race end?" My guess is that the answer is never. Manufacturers
will keep offering chips that are bigger, faster, and cheaper,
even after they've reached a level that matches film pixel for
grain in 35mm cameras. While we will continue to see bigger and
better digicams, one thing we won't see next year is Silicon
Film's EFS-1 system that lets you shoot digital images with a film
camera. Evidently, the delay and financial strain caused by the
need to make the device pass the FCC's interference test proved to
be the final straw. It was a great concept and technical
achievement that never saw fruition.

Does Shutterbug ever do a less than glowing review?
