You can find a lot of nice used 3021 tripods on e*ay
for sometimes a lot less price than new. Unlike
cameras , which can be damged even though they look
fine, a Bogen tripod is basically built like a tank
and if it doesn't look damaged it 'won't' be damaged.
The 3047 head is the same way, a few pieces of metal
bolted together with some grease to keep it turning
smoothly. Of course I'm new to tripods after years of
using that ultra cruddy Star D so I have no other
experience like with Tiltall, Gitzo, Slik. etc. But
one thing I would STRONGLY say to stay away from are
those stick legged 1 Lb. tripods that shake like a
leaf when you jostle them a little. The 3021 is solid
as a rock and should be able to handle all your needs
in 35mm up to light MF.
